In September 2023, the Fi Wi Road interns led the second Fi Wi Road Fair at the University College London (UCL). This year the interns chose to focus on the idea of journeys. Intended as a collective mapping out of Black communities, Black experiences and Black spaces across the globe. The Fair aimed to gather as a collective to understand not only the routes which brought us together, but also what the future holds. Behavioural Culture in Orca (Orcinus orca) as a Criterion for Conservation Prioritisation
Behavioural Culture in Orca (Orcinus orca) as a Criterion for Conservation Prioritisation is my postgraduate dissertation research project, undertaken at Birkbeck University of London. Evidence of culture within orca (killer whales) is well documented. Focusing on often complex foraging and social behaviours exhibited by orca, which are socially learned and transmitted within families and communities, my research aimed to establish the importance of this ‘behavioural’ culture in the prioritisation of orca communities for conservation attention.
To what extent are the number of chicken shops linked to deprivation rates in two contrasting areas of Haringey?
This research was a part of my A Level Geography course. I researched the correlation between deprivation and the number of chicken shops. I investigated three hypotheses exploring the link between deprivation and chicken shops, deprivation and ethnicity, and deprivation and environmental degradation. I was inspired to do this research after Priti Patel decided to print the stories of knife crime victims within chicken boxes in chicken shops.
