In August 2025, the Fi Wi Road Fair returned for the fifth year in a row. This year the interns developed their event programme in conversation with the Royal Geographical Society’s Annual Conference, which was chaired by our own Director, Prof. Pat Noxolo, on the theme of ‘Creative Geographies’. Their fair, ‘Beyond Maps: Into the Future’, was a series of creative workshops that invited the participants to think about different ways of mapping, the history of mapping, and how the future of mapping can valorise Black and indigenous voices and knowledges.
